I Hope you're excited for family Christmas traditions, the memories under the Christmas tree and all the warming moments of the season.
Every year around Christmas time I design an entire collection of handmade, hand painted ornaments.
I call it “ Add Magic Collection” #addmagiccollection This collection includes wild life we saw during our summer trips to British Columbia, Canada. Also on our way to BC we spent some time again in Drumheller, Alberta there we visited the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Alberta. In this museum we saw some dinosaur fossils and I included some dinosaurs in this collection. And in this collection I also included a dragon, Not that we saw one, but was my daughter's requests. :)
These ornaments are my favourite original art to make, they are a little bit different that my usual art style and I adore making them.
These original ornaments are made of wood painted with acrylic paint, hand painted on a mix of sizes between 3 - 4.5 inches.

Alberta Dreams 2024 Calendar Collaboration
I have the opportunity to be part of 🌟Bringing Dreams to Life fundraising 2024 calendar🌟 This calendar was made possible by Desjardins Insurance Agency in Calgary The dreams of children’s battling critical illnesses are transformed in beautiful artwork of local artists including myself.
One of the dreams granted was a year pass to Edmonton Zoo Valley.
Here is the Edmonton Zoo illustration I made:
And the other Dream granted was a trip to Florida to a place called GKTW Give Kids the World Village This place is an amazing non profit organization that provides support to other wish granting organizations by providing a custom village designed for children with critical illness and significant disabilities. With this trip they are able to access all the Disney world, Lego land, universal studios and sea world have to offer but the village has so much more. From private villas for the families, meals, snacks, extra warm pools suitable for children in wheelchairs, on site medical staff to every week celebrating Christmas, Halloween, and at least one Disney character has a birthday party extravaganza.

Heartland TV Show-Spencer Twins Illustrated Portrait
Spencer Kids Watercolour Portrait
I’m so excited to finally revealing this big project that I made as a collaboration with a proud Alberta Mama.
I was absolutely elated when I was asked if I could make this portrait. I immediately said yes to the project and, in being honest, it was a very challenging one for me. Normally my custom family portraits are a smaller size than this one. This was the first time I made a watercolour portrait this big (18 x 24 inches) and I loved it!
The adorable twins on this big custom illustration play Lyndy Borden on the CanadianTV Show Heartland which airs on CBC TV. Heartland is a multi-generational saga about a family getting through the highs and lows of life on a horse ranch. The series is based on the Heartland book series by Lauren Brooke and follows Amy Fleming and her older sister Louise "Lou" Fleming on their Albertan-based family ranch.
Here I’m sharing a bit of the process:
First, I made a sketch based on the original picture.
Secondly, I traced it on a big watercolour paper and started to paint
I’m so happy of how it turned out!

This was the illustration I made for my daughter on her Raya themed birthday party (and I made the cake too!).
I’m so excited to share with you this Disney Raya Theme Birthday party! We celebrated our daughter birthday, we were excited when she told us that she wanted to have a Raya themed birthday party this year! I will show you the Raya birthday illustration I made for my daughter and how the experience at Muttart Conservatory went.
This was a birthday party for my daugther and was amazing! Our family likes nature and I wanted a place where we could enjoy nature specially after a long winter here in Canada.
And is so exciting to share our recap with all of you today and hope this can help if you are planning to have a birthday party at Muttart Conservatory here in Edmonton.
I’ll be sharing about decoration, food, venue activities and the extra things you can do to make it even special for your little one.
The Sisu Cake
For the Raya birthday cake decoration I was inspired by Sisu’s colours. Was delicious and I used this recipe:

I made this illustration to decorate the wall. I illustrated my daughter with a Raya’s costume, it was the same that she was wearing at her party. I do personalized portrait, you can learn more here.

The Raya’s Birthday Party at Muttart Conservatory

Since the Disney Raya movie has a lot of nature we decided to have my daughter's birthday at Muttart Conservatory, this place is beautiful and the staff is so nice. Here are some details listed below of the birthday package we got.
We got the Blooming Package
On this package they take a journey through the jungle and a dance through the desert. In each of the pyramids at Muttart Conservatory, the party guests participate in exciting activities and explore the beauty of plants from around the world. To top off a terrific party, each guest get to pot their very own plant to take home.

Curious about how Personalized Portrait Process is done?
Hi! Some of you have been asking about the Custom Family portrait illustration, here I'm writing about the process :)
This is how customized portraits works:
When purchasing a customized portrait please select the number of family members. The pets count as a family members too. :)
After your purchase contact me (contact@nenaland.com) for: Reference photos. I can work with separate photos to make one portrait out of them.
After receiving your photos I'll make the illustration (please allow a few weeks), I'll send a screenshot first proof file of how your illustration will look like and once it is approved by you, I'll work my magic and make a watercolour or a digital file, whatever was your purchase.
If you bought a digital portrait I will send a high resolution file so you can print at any print shop as many copies you like.
If you bought a watercolour portrait I will send the original via regular mail and a digital copy to your email.
